In the northern part of Thailand, close to the boarder to Burma, I
visited an elephant-camp to document the work of Mahuds with
their elephants. Working as a Mahud is not just a job you choose,
it’s a profession you have to do by heart. The relation between a
Mahud and his elephant is a sensitive, almost spiritual interaction
and relationship, grown for many years and decades. They are
living in close harmony together with their animals in order to
build confidence and to strengthen their connection.
