Following a journey made in November 2013, walking through Umbria, in search of the
hermits I decided to extend this project in all of my country.
Left again, by foot, on the 10th of May 2014 by the Piedmont, I crossed the peninsula in
far and wide along the old streets "Francigena", to complete the project, returning to
Turin in mid-September. I spent more than six months to document on this argument.
Travelling on foot allowed me to get in touch in a more delicate with a certain reality
that is present and well established in all of us. Reality that I have diminished and
forgotten to give space to the busy life, often inconsistent.
My way to reciprocate the hospitality I received was to stop with each of them for a few
days working and helping them as much as possible according to their needs. No one has
ever criticized the fact that I was an atheist, no one has ever shown a close-minded that
we can assume arrivals after long periods of solitude. In their words I rocked, finding a
humanity and spirituality outside of the common religious thought. An undeniable feeling
that perhaps only those who have reached a certain emotional maturity, can demonstrate.
After studying architecture, I devoted myself to photography, obtaining a diploma at the Fondazione Artevision in Turin and working as a photographer on stage for various Italian music magazines, including: XL Republic, Rockerilla, Noise and Rocklab. I studied photojournalism and reportage photography in Milan and Rome. Today, as a freelancer, I am carrying out long-term social-documentary projects.
