"Beyond the reef", was born in September 2013, when I asked the Italian Navy to follow
their work related to the sinking of the Costa Concordia, the cruise ship partially sunken
on Jan. 13th, 2012, near the coast of Isola del Giglio, Italy . After seeing the various
photographic works concerning the tragedy in which 32 people lost their lives due to human
error, I decided to show something different, giving the same importance to the incident,
but through a different vision. So, I clearly ignored the ship and its condition, which
were very well documented in the past months, and focused my attention on what has not
been pointed out: the operation of the Interforce working for the rescue of last two (and
not only) missing bodies. This is the result of my work.
