The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, after 29 years of abandonment by humans, became a sanctuary
for wildlife, despite the high levels of radiations.
The Zone has after the disaster in April 1986 become an involuntary nature reserve. The
populations of foxes, wolves, badger, wild boar, roe deer, white-tailed eagle, black
stork, Western marsh harrier, short-eared owl, red deer, moose, great egret, whooper swan,
least weasel, common kestrel and beaver have multiplied enormously. here a fox is going
around the ghost city of Pripyat.
