Time Suspended
Parks is the photographic series of Rogerio Faissal that confront emptiness.
It is a peculiar situation for photographers used to picture something. Faissal also
photographs those objects that give name to the series, but here they are surrounded by
the “nothingness”, turning his work meaningful and very disturbing.
Acknowledged by his photographs in fashion, publicity and journalism, he knows for more
than three decades, how to compose pictures in a sutil manner in a teather of light and
shadow.
The approach in Parks is pale colors in the geometric structure of the toys. Those
emptiness of humans here show as latency – referring to the Latin etymology of the word –
lateo - or be hidden, and philosophical meaning of something that cannot be seen but is
felt as something that may show or not.
The same feeling of paralysis, the same silence is found in Rogerio Faissal’s series of
pictures where complements of human activities and play for instance, parks are waiting
for humans that will never came but belong there. Ghosts that are remainder of the
Freudian unheimlich .
This sensible work astonish with boundaries of past and future, or even the world of
humans compared to an empty world that one may call as post world or post modern. This
clairvoyance’s of Rogerio Faissal indicate the challenge of seen what is present but not
yet revealed.
