Overscheyt

"Overscheyt" is an ancient word used by the Saint Hadewijch
d'Anvers (13th century), to define the spiritual place she tries to
join in her prayers. It's meaning is literally "abyss of the higher
world".

Oscillating between abstraction and landscape, this photograph
tries to incarnate this metaphysical place, primitive and sacred,
rough and powerful. I wanted to represent an original force,
transcending the reality of the waterfall and melting all the
elements of nature. At least, I hope I succeed.

I spent many days in front of Dettifoss, the most powerful
waterfall in Europe (Iceland), to fix this movement and reveal this
spirit, as a ghost or an evil, emerging from the water and the light.

This photograph is representative of my work and my researches,
constantly oscillating between abstract photography and
cinematographic projects. As a plury-disciplinar artist, I plan to
return in Iceland to film Dettifoss and create a video-art
installation, sculpting space and time with high-speed cameras
and electro-acoustic music.
