The inspiration for this project came from a news interview featuring a Contact The
Elderly charity’s Trustee when he was discussing the importance of recognising and
tackling loneliness and social isolation amongst the elderly. After some initial research
into the charity I felt moved by there activities and wanted to use my skills as a
photographer to get involved and started to develop ideas for a body of work that would
visually represent the charity’s aims.

I wanted to capture the moment of recognition in loneliness in each of the sitter.
