The "Lord of the Miracles" is the main Catholic festivity in Peru
and one of the largest processions around the world. The series of
photographs is taken in Madrid (Spain) where the procession takes
an important place in the centre of the city. Every year in October
the procession is headed by a group of Peruvians dressed in the
traditional purple- coloured habits who carries the iconic image of
a crucified Christ decorated with lots of adornments and sat on
top of a wooden frame. The times to stop and change of carriers
are controlled by one of the members of the brotherhood ringing
a bell, between pauses followers lift their children up to the image
as a sign of good luck and to keep them healthy. Every year a
crowd of several hundred of members of the Peruvian community
of all races and economic background follows the procession in
Madrid.
