Selection from book, titled We will swim. I approached this body of work as I would a
documentary of street-life, though I chose to go underwater.

In her book Plain Water, Anne Carson expresses: "Some kinds of water drown us and some do
not." We are drawn to it nonetheless.

We will swim.

Patricia Garcia-Gomez is a photographer and writer based in New York City.

Originally from Brownsville, Texas, she travels extensively, documenting people and cultural traditions. She was among the first westerners to be granted access to the matriarchal Miao tribe in remote China and begin to tell their story. This experience informed her work for the Discovery Channel and the Travel Channel for years to follow. Patricia now works by commission and on assignment. Her work is part of the permanent collections of the NY Museum of Art & Design, the Henry Buhl Collection, Arte Monte Antico in Italy, the Santa Barbara Museum and the Agnes Martin Estate in New Mexico.
