In 1901 Picasso started his haunting works in memory of the death of his friend, leading to the start of his blue period paintings. Casagemas had taken his own life because of an unhappy love affair. Sazeli Jalal's pictures relate to the representations of melancholy and hopelessness of the blue period. He could relate with the experience of losing someone you loved dearly.
