Portraits of a Tornado Path

In May 22 2011 a tornado hits the city of Joplin
Missouri. The strength and magnitude of the
tornado left a trail of destruction of 3 / 4 wide by
6 miles long, as a result, 153 die and within
minutes thousands of people are homeless.

Born in 1973 in the south of France, at the age of 16 Mathieu Asselin started working with the acknowledged film director Alfredo Anzola in Venezuela. In his early 20s, Mathieu moved to Europe, where he joined the French photo agency L� Oeil du Sud. In 2005, Mathieu moved to New York City and established himself as a commercial photographer. His pictures have been published in various international corporate and editorial magazines, as well as in advertising campaigns. Mathieu�s personal work focuses on documentary portraiture.

�As a documentary photographer, I like the adventure of building and creating the reality through my lighting technique. Through the lighting, I build mood and atmosphere, and I come the closest to the truth, at least the truth the way I see it.�
