An ongoing portrait series about artistic migrants and artists in motion; personal project
Born in Munich, Germany, Alexander Spraetz discovered his passion for photography during an academic student exchange in the US. He later studied photography at the renowned Munich Academy of Photodesign (Staatliche Fachakademie fuer Fotodesign). For the following ten years Alexander split his time between Munich and Milan working as a freelance photographer for magazines, advertising clients and corporate publications before moving to Canada in 2004. His assignments for numerous international magazines such as ELLE Decoration, marie claire, AD Architectural Digest and his award-winning work for advertising agencies such as BBDO and Lowe Lintas have taken him all over the world. He is currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he lives with his wife Luigina and his son Elia. More of his award-winning work can be viewed at www.spraetz.net
