Special Surgery in Haiti

In November I had the opportunity to document the Specialty Surgery Program in Port au Prince, Haiti. A team of pediatric neurosurgeons came from Miami to operate 25 children with severe cases of hydrocephalus. This is a congenial disease that affects 2 out of 1000 babies. A simple operation, immediately after birth, allows a child a greater chance to a normal life. With the coordinating efforts of Project Medishare and the outreach program of Healing Hands of Haiti this surgery program is carried out twice a year
