Mother Swan

The lady in white seems to be calling out to the swan and her little ones. To me, she looks like a huge version of a swan.

Formally trained in Fine Arts through the Art Elective Programme, creating visual images has always been Triston?s passion. His aim was not always necessarily to create images that were beautiful. What was more important was their ability to evoke the feelings of an individual or the mood of a scene. Through the programme, Triston learned to handle fine art media such as watercolours, oils and charcoal.

Triston did not limit himself to two-dimensional art. He never ceased to explore other art media and was blessed with an opportunity to major in Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore as he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. Exploring various elements such as stage and prop design, lighting and acting served to further develop of his artistic sense, especially his interpretational skills.

Being able to interact with people to explore their inner thoughts and using photography to articulate these thoughts became his eventual path to visual expression.

In his current role as a commercial photographer, Triston has worked on a wide range of projects for various MNCs, statutory boards and educational institutions. He has also been commissioned for various overseas projects.

Often commissioned by RBC Ministries International to shoot stock images for their publications such as Our Daily Bread and Our Journey, the constant contact with nature provides him with an enormous sense of peace because he sees God?s hand in it. Whether it is the rich afterglow of sunset over the Great Hungarian Plains or the magical light of the dusk sky on the Danube, he is humbled by the realisation that there are scenes we as human beings can never truly replicate.

Some people are too busy to notice these moments. But Triston?s personal mission is to capture as many images of these special moments as he can. The warm hospitality of newfound foreign friends and the picturesque scenery enrich his personal life as well as fuel his passion for photography.

A personal passion to raise the status of photography from just mere pictorial composition to fine art, Triston has worked with the Embassy of Hungary and Embassy of Sri Lanka as well as the Singapore History Museum to promote fine art photography pieces through various photographic exhibition.

Currently, Triston is working closely with Canon on travel photoclinics to bring people who want to appreciate the finer art of photography to countries that are less traveled such as Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Hungary and Papua New Guinea. Travelling to a country that is less developed or less commercialized often enhances one?s visual experience and allow a photographer to appreciate the world in a more natural form and to be thankful for what one has in one?s own country.

Sharing his passion and love for photography via publications such as Asian Geographic and Daily Bread, Triston seeks to inspire more photography enthusiasts to seek the world from alternative perspectives everyday.
