These photographs are of a new generation of Russian youth who have grown up since the end of the Soviet Union. They are coming of age in a Russia that is again bold and rich, yet a Russia, that is anxious to reassert its identity.
The pictures are part of a larger body of work.
After completing a BA in Photography at the London College of Printing in 2002 Philipp started working as a freelance portrait photographer in London. His clients include Time Out, Dazed & Confused the Observer, Guardian and Sunday Times Magazines. He won multiple awards for his portraiture including the distinguished National Portrait Gallery's annual portrait award. His private documentary work was awarded with the 2004 Observer/Hodge Award. His work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Acadamy, at PhotoLondon and most recently as part of group shows at the Centre George Pompidou in Paris and the Milano Triennale. From 2005 to 2006 Philipp worked on a scholarship at Fabrica, Benetton's comunication research centre in Italy. He lives in London.
