This year marks the 60th anniversary of Israel?s birth, along with the 1948 ?War of Independence?, or ?Nakba?, the Palestinian name for the displacement of thousands of refugees, most of who left or were forced to leave their villages to various neighboring Arab countries. Those who stayed within Israel call themselves ?Uprooted?, in reference to their loss, and strongly feel uprooted not only from their erased villages but also from the Israeli state, which they today are citizens of. Their stories vary from abandoned village to village, as they keep living these stories.
