Aggression is a vital impulse of creatures. In nature it has its checks/balances. In humans, the disproportionate use of technology put a huge distance between actions and effects, making humans most dangerous. Hope comes from the fact that - as Konrad Lorenz says - only animals capable of great aggression are also capable of love.
