The Great Lakes region’s culture and economy are shaped by icy winters, but as warming trends persist, there’s a growing sense of loss. The Great Lakes’ ice seasons are shortening by an average of about half a day per year. In the most dire warming scenarios, scientists predict that more than 200,000 lakes in the Northern Hemisphere could have more ice-free years. "Last Ice" documents this decline and its unfortunate effects on time-honored Great Lakes' traditions, identity and culture.
