Social Distancing Tokyo 2020

The exciting days of shooting rock concerts suddenly came to a halt in March 2020 due to pandemic. I was a Tokyo correspondent for international music media. While government was asking us to stay home, I walked my area for only 1 hour every night. Though my city was supposed to be a part of the Olympics venues, it looked completely different. The empty, quiet city was beautiful and that healed my broken heart. I might’ve been selfish. People have lost their lives and jobs. Going through a psychological conflict, the only thing I could do is capturing the weird truth.

Aki is an aspiring photographer based in Tokyo. She fell in love with travel, music, and photography while in college. She worked as a print operator at a photo laboratory for 5 years. In January 2017, she got an offer from DALLE, the biggest music photo stock and news agency in France, and signed with them as the only Japanese photographer.
Since then, she has been shooting international musicians and writing reviews in English. Her works have been published worldwide. In the meantime she has a passion to capture endangered architecture and cityscape at night as her lifework.
