Protection started with visual interest in rubber fetish. How rubber covered the body and was used to facilitate sexuality and intimacy. Why was rubber,a second skin worn in the pursuit of human connection? This protective layer often covers the body completely making the individual anonymous. I wanted to create emotional portraits void of facial expression. I was inspired by the physical qualities of rubber and making new modern images. While shooting Protection, the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic started. The images organically now seemed more relevant had new layers of meaning.
