Born during the Genocide era, Rwandan’s youth speak of their aspirations, their hope for peace in the aftermath of a brutal conflict that fractured their nation. They are the generation that wants to be known as Rwandans, eliminating historical tribal labels of Hutu and Tutsi. They want their legacy to be known as the peace brokers. The youth have come together, united in purpose – much of their commitment to reconciliation is rooted in the idea that without peace, there is no future. Peace is everything, the steel platform to construct prosperity and harmony.

Carol Allen Storey is an award-winning photojournalist specialising in chronicling complex humanitarian and social issues. Her imagery illuminating their dignity and quest for survival reflects the unique trust and respect she engenders with her subjects.

“My images are intimate, about issues and citizens I deeply care about. I believe photographs may not be capable of doing the moral work for us, but they can trigger the process of social consciousness.”

Storey’s work has been exhibited and published extensively. Installations of her photography appear in corporate HQs and commercial premises. In October 2009 she was appointed a UNICEF ambassador for photography.
In 2000 Carol graduated Central St. Martins, Master Photography Programme with distinction. Storey’s further degrees include an MA at Columbia University and a BA at Syracuse University. A native New Yorker, Storey resides in London
