A Drying Kenya

Drought cycles in the arid north of Kenya are getting tighter. In early 2017 President
Uhuru Kenyatta declared a national disaster. This series, part of a larger one created in
partnership with The Boma Project, explores the difficult relationship between people -
mostly nomadic pastoralists - and this life-giving resource. Taken for granted in most
homes in the so-called First World, the search for water for families and their herds and
flocks is a time-consuming daily task, one made more difficult with dropping water tables
and a changing climate.
