PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris 2025 – State of the World
Curatorial Selection – W Sant’Agata!

Can you take us behind the scenes of your winning series? What was the story you aimed to tell, and did any unexpected moments shape the final result?

My goal was to tell the story of Catania’s great popular festival dedicated to its Patron Saint, Saint Agatha. What surprised me was the intense emotion and participation of the citizens of Catania which also involved all the visitors present.

How has receiving recognition from The State of the World competition influenced your perspective on the role of your work in today’s global dialogue?

These important recognition encourage me to continue telling stories with my personal favorite language, that through emotions.

Photojournalism often demands vulnerability – from both subject and photographer. How do you approach capturing truth while maintaining empathy and respect?

Getting involved in the main theme but at the same time identifying with the many stories of the people you meet.

What motivates you to continue capturing the world through your lens, and where do you hope to take your work in the future?

Interest in humanity, its dreams, its emotions, its expectations. I hope to continue to do so with unwavering commitment and, if possible, through a process of growing in awareness.

Photography has the ability to raise awareness, shift perspectives, and even inspire action. What role do you believe visual storytelling plays in addressing global challenges?

A leading role because visual language is not limited by linguistic differences and messages pass directly across all types of borders.
