Shadows of Kurdistan
I was born in Kurdistan part of Turkey. For us, Kurdish was the language used for communicating, until I went to school.
After a long period assimilation in Turkish culture and language, i began to explore the Kurdish areas through photography, examining our culture and daily life. I have started to take photos in Turkey, and then I took photos in Iran and Iraq Kurdistan. In four countries (with in Syria) our population is around 35 millions. For a long time, it was forbidden to speak Kurdish. Impacted by these experiences, I have titled my project, “Shadows of Kurdistan”.
