With more than 12.000 deaths in a country of 7.5 million, Catalonia is one of the worst coronavirus-hit regions in the world. During the toughest weeks of the pandemic, I embedded the medical team of the Home Hospitalization Service of Hospital Dos de Maig (Barcelona). The team visited nursing homes (for intellectual disabled and for elderly) and private homes: they took care of patients with covid-19, others isolated for possible covid-19, but also patients admitted for other pathologies. Cases have now suffered a significant drop, but pain remains: 1 of every 625 Catalans have died of covid.
Born in Barcelona in 1982, after graduating in Medicine, I got my life straightened out: I studied Photography at IDEP Barcelona and Communication of Armed Conflicts at Complutense University of Madrid. Since 2017, and combined with my medical work in Barcelona, I have reported (mainly photography, but also text) in Catalonia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, Morocco, Spain, Ukraine, Romania and France, focusing (mostly but not only) on political and armed conflicts.
