Bird feeding in Dam Square, Amsterdam, 2017

Bird feeding is a common activity and sight in the main square of Amsterdam – but for a little girl to be smiling while swarmed with flock of pigeons, that's rare! This was photographed back in 2017 while exploring the streets of Amsterdam trying to find a photo-worthy scene.

I stumbled upon the square and spotted this little girl just starting to throw seeds out to the birds. Within a minute, a flock of pigeons started gathering around her and soon she was the centre of attention on the busy city square. I started shooting from several meters away, but eventually decided to get closer.
