Pyramiden. The beauty of transit places.

My intention with these photographs is to show the city of Pyramiden. To display its beauty and pay homage to those who look after it.
Pyramiden’s coal mine was closed and so the people were evicted with the fall of the URSS in 1998. Barentsburg is still inhabited because its mine is still working. Although Barentsburg was destroyed during the WWII and rebuilt. Pyramiden remains intact.
Pyramiden was designed and built as a model communist city in capitalist territory as the Svalbard are administrated by Norway.
