End of an Era

On July 7, 2019 Greek voters were called to the polls for the sixth time since the global financial crisis in 2008, which hit the country hard and led to massive financial bailouts. Conservative New Democracy party won under Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who rallied for economic growth and security, embracing a pro-business culture and promising to rebrand the country and change its image as Europe's problem child. The vote for the market-friendly old guard marked the end of an era of crisis politics and the return to political normality and stability.
