Inner Peace

Whereas monkeys are generally afraid of water, the Japanese macaques of Jigokudani park have learned to warm themselves up by dipping in the hot spring. Away from the troop of macaques soaking in the hot water was a lone male macaque. He did not let the commotion of the other monkeys bother him as he just sat on the snow as if he was meditating. He did not move a muscle, even as I slowly approached him. He was certainly aware of my presence, but chose not to let his mind wander from where he was.
