The lack of freedom freezes time in an emotional space made of memories and silences that, day after day, become an integral part of everyday life.
Life in prisons is marked by the passage of an empty time, which absorbs the feelings and actions of the subjects, who spend their days in a few square meters. "Do time" say the British, make time: an expression that encompasses the harshness of the prison reality, in which one does not do things, does not engage in activities, but expects time to pass hard and undeterred, without changing.
Was born in 1945 and as amateur photographer started photographing, by passion, in 1978. In the meantime developed also a major interest in social reportage. Attended to several master classes for instance with Gianni Berengo Gardin, Mario de Biasi, Fulvio Roiter, Franco Fontana, Romano Cagnononi, Roberto Salbitani, Giovanni Marozzini, George Tadge, Giancarlo Torresani, Ernesto Bazan, Paul Lowe, Ziyah Gafic, Francesco Cito and Angelo Ferrillo.
Awards He has 42 solo and 70 collective exhibitions. He has won various prizes including the "10th Mario Giacomelli Award", the "XXIV Premio Città di Verona", the "Farfalla d'argento" and "Farfalla d'oro", the "Giorgio Trani" award for the reportage, special jury prize in the "Giancarlo Siani" competition, the 45th "Golden Truciolo", the first prize in the international competition "Luz Contra el Racismo" in Madrid, the "Pollitzer Trophy," Portfolio Italia - Grand Prix Hasselblad "2016 , finalist at the Siena International Photography Awards.
In 2012 he was named FIAF "Author Of The Year" for the Friuli Venezia Giulia
In 2017 Winner with the recognition of "New talent of the year award" from the "M.I.F.A. Moscow International Photography Awards" in the amateur category; received an Honorable Mention in the "FAMILY OF MAN" competition promoted by IPA (International Photography Award) and another Honorable Mention in the 2017 annual competition announced by IPA.
In 2018 he received an Honorable Mention in the "One-Shot: Harmony: Documentary" competition promoted by IPA. Honorable mention of the "Royal Photographic Society" at the "22th Gran Tour delle Colline", and finalist in the “URBAN EVENT” in the Street Portfolio Categories and a finalist in the "Premio Voglino", winner of the "Visioni Monocromatiche" competition organized by Nikon Club Italia. In 2019 winner of the "Con le mani" competition organized by Nikon Club Italia, finalist at LuganoPhotoDays 2019, finalist of "URBAN EVENT", winner of the silver medal at the Prix de la Photographie in Paris (Px3) 2019. In 2020 Fine ArtPhtography Awards Winner of 3 1st place, honorable mention PX3 Paris, 1st place winner at the “Umbra Award”, 1st place gold medal at the IPA International Phtography Awards 2020, Honorable Mention "Monochrome photography Awards" 2020.
