Honorable Mention / 2018 / Fine Art / Still Life
Orchid Art is a portfolio of highly stylized orchid portraits. The
flowers removed from their natural environment are shot in the
studio on a white background. The unusual angle of view, the light
that carves shapes, and the different photographic techniques used
reveal the anthropomorphic nature of orchids whose size sometimes
exceeds no more than 2 to 3 centimeters.
These photographs are born from the desire to work in a minimalist
way on the stripping of the real, in the manner of the techniques of
Sumi-e and Zen, with this intimate ambition to reveal through the
purest possible line, the essential, the meaning of things. A lifetime
of work of letting go, to be where the meaning is found without
looking for it.
Thus, these beautiful orchids in their elegance and lightness thus
deliver the key of the secret passage to our inner freedom.
