DRIFT

The abstraction in these photographs is done through the lens
using traditional photographic technique. As a filmmaker for
many years, I have been intrigued with the relationship between
the temporality of a still and that of the illusion of movement in
motion picture using the rapid projection of several stills. Tracing
the movement that arrests my lens offers a painterly rendition that
intends to capture feeling, as I respond to nature's glimpses,
tracing what I see. It is my hope that these images will wash over
us, arresting us to protect the earth, our mother and provider, so
that there will be a place for our children's children to walk.

My company started as a film company and when I moved to the Near North of Ontario I began to work as a still photographer and thus my company was modified to serve both endeavours. My still photography is taken in motion and informed by the
"motivated" movement of cinematography.
