As a result of a severe political and economic crisis, the collapse of the communist regime in Cuba is leading its population to a situation in which subsistence is impossible due to the lack of the most basic necessities of life.
In this context, the peasants of Valle de Viñales survive thanks to their harvests despite precarious conditions, which is leading the new generations to try to leave the country. Meanwhile, without hope, their parents know that the emigration of their children will put an end to an ancestral culture and way of life.
