In 2016 I visited the battlefields of Verdun. Looking at the state of the world then, the dynamics at play, it felt as if the centennial of the First World War that was being celebrated and commemorated at the time, gave a false sense of acquired peace and prosperity. Something was trembling in the background. It felt like the bombs would return.
I embarked on a journey through Europe to photograph it's forgotten battlefields, to visualize the idea that we were still stuck there, in the war, and it would only be a matter of time before this would become apparent. And here we are today.
