There are many children suffering around the world. But I can only show you the ones I saw, and in some metaphors, the ones I could only imagine. And they were suffering when I saw them in that uncertain world. They are all children of a war they cannot understand. These are the children of Ukraine. Some spent months in the basements of buildings, without seeing the sun, in shock at what they knew was happening outside. Others pretended to play in the street between bombings. And if you could read fear in the eyes of many of these children, you could also glimpse hope in others.
