The Rhone Glacier, once home to Europe's largest manmade ice cave, was covered with blankets in an attempt to slow its retreat. Fifteen years later little remains. The ice has melted, and the blankets lie in tattered shreds, resembling the rotting skin of a great ice beast. Below, a newly formed meltwater lake, the glacier's lifeblood, reflects the sombre scene.

This series, illuminated at night with aerial lighting rigs, bears witness to the valiant efforts of a small and passionate community. Whilst reminding us that climate change is a global challenge requiring unified, global action.
