Reserving a spot at the ration shop in South India.

To help people during the Covid 19 crises, the government of Telangana gave out 12 kilos of rice per person for all underprivileged households.

This led to long and winding queues at the ration shops, and people stood in line from early in the morning. With the summer heat, it became difficult to wait for long hours in the sun. People marked their spot in these social distancing circles with various small personal item, ranging from things like a pair of slippers to a rock, while they waited in the shade nearby.
