The Nenets are a group of indigenous reindeer herders in the Yamal region of Siberia, Russsia. They rely on reindeer for food, transportation, tools, clothing, trade and even treat some as their own pets. Each year during late March and early April, the Nenets will attempt to migrate across the frozen Gulf of Ob to lead their reindeer to greener pastures. The journey is a treacherous one, as winters in Siberia can dip to as low as -50c. Life in this part of the world may not be the easiest, but it reminded me that life can be so simple yet equally as content and fulsome.
