Velocity of Darkness

30,000 people live in a square kilometer of Kolkata. Life here is hard. It
was not like this always but slowly too many started living here, and as
time went by the inhabitants started “living” as slowly the life was
sucked out.

Kolkata, the British Empire’s capital to India was once a busy metropolis
and as it was the Empire’s capital it was proper, polished with the filth
of men, and men who did not fit into its beauty pushed to the edge of
the town.

Seventy years has passed since the British left. Life here now is hard.
The heat, the humidity, the grime, the sweat, the political turmoil, and
the class difference has left the men and women dazed, a society
clinging to a time that “once was.”

Velocity of Darkness is a portrait of the city; a portrait of this aimlessness, its hollowness, its madness.
