PX3 2009 WINNERS ANNOUNCED

In its very successful third year, Px3 received over six thousands entries. Entries were judged by category: Advertising, Photojournalism, Book, Fine Art, Nature, and Portraiture, all which contain various sub-categories. Each jury was asked to use these criteria when reviewing the photographs: originality, creativity, excellence of execution, and overall impact. View the full list of jury members at Px3.fr

The winner of the most coveted public recognition, the Px3 Photographer of the Year 2009, is professional photographer Erwin Olaf of Netherlands, Erwin a lucie awards winning photographer was born in Hilversum, the Netherlands, 195. He is a commercial and fine art photographer. Olaf has earned several Silver Lions for his commercial work, which is increasingly sought after by magazines such as the New York Times Magazine and London Sunday Times. He is represented by Hasted Hunt, New York, and Flatland Gallery, Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The recipient of the Best New Talent Award is Annett Reimer of London. She was born 1984 in Sweden. Moved to United Kingdom after completed one year photographic studies in Finland in 2005, to continue her studies at the University for the Creative Arts in Maidstone, from where she recently graduated with a first class joint honors degree. Reimers work has been internationally exhibited around Scandinavia and in the United Kingdom, being shortlisted for the AOP Student awards and ADAA of last year as well as being a part of several other group exhibitions, such as the prestigious New Nordic Photography exhibition at the Hasselblad Center in Sweden. Reimer will continue her postgraduate education at the Royal College of Art in september.

The photographs of the Px3 Photographer of the Year, the Best New Talent Award winner, plus the 1st and 2nd place winners in each major category will be exhibited at the prestigious Espace Dupon, in Paris from July 20 - July 25 and published in the Px3 Annual Book.

The exhibition in Paris will be attended by leading photography editors, print and online press, publishers, curators, gallery owners, agents, consultants, creative directors and art buyers and art directors from across the globe.

" The overall level of work submitted was really outstanding, I was extremely impressed with the quality of this year's photographs" says Px3 founder Hossein Farmani, who is president and founder of the Lucie Awards and Focus on AIDS, a highly regarded charity auction of photography that benefits AIDS research and educational organizations around the world.
