Srebrenica mass burial

POTOCARI (SREBRENICA), BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA. 11 JULY 2010. 775 coffins are placed inside the hangar in front of the cemetery, they will be buried during the celebration. The fifteenth anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, eastern Bosnia. Hundreds of families bury their relatives in a mass funeral. Between 11 and 15 July 1995 Serbian forces massacred over 8000 Bosnian muslim males after taking control of Srebrenica - 3500 now rest in the memorial cemetery in Potocari. The remainder await exhumation from mass-graves and DNA-identification. Before being buried, the body parts of victims must be put back to at least 70%.

Giuliano Koren is a freelance photographer based in Trieste, Italy, where he borned in 1974. He studied visual communication and photography at the ISIA (Institute of Artistic Industries) in Urbino, Italy, between 1996 and 2000. In this period he also attended the photography course at the University of Plymouth, England, gaining experience with colour printing and taking in-depth classes in photojournalism. He has been working as a freelance photographer since 2008. His main interests include national and international photojournalistic reportage, commercial photography and advertising. He is currently collaborating with Italian and foreign photo press agencies. His work has been published on several magazines such as: Espresso (ITA), Vanity Fair (ITA), D La repubblica delle donne (ITA), D casa (ITA), Focus (ITA), AutoEsporte magazine (BRA).
