“The Price of Vanity” is a long term project born to tell the sacrifice hidden behind the ruthless values expressed by the high fashion, and its cultural trend dominated by remorseless standards of beauty. Despite many initiatives in the protection of enviroment and towards animals such as CITES, there are thousands of intensive breeding farms alla around the world that involve a long list of different animal species. The business volume that revolving around this trade amounts to several millions of euro per yrear and in this scenario condemns milions of animals to intensive farming for the production of clothes with furs, feathers or leather. The estimate for which was rated the furs and animal skins sector totaled $ 40 million and the massive growth in the number of intensive farms around the world is another irrefutable fact. In this report I tell you the sacrifice of tens of thousands of crocodile, killed in Colombia, but this is just the story of one intensive farming while in the world there are thousands of others. This infernal process is alive, well and in very strong growth. I tell you the sacrifice hidden in the intensive breeding farms all around the world and behind the ruthless values of the high fashion, and its trend dominated by remorseless standards of beauty.

Paolo Marchetti was born in Italy, he has been working for eleven years in the Italian cinema and commercial industry as camera assistant, favoring the italian and foreigners cinematographers and began his photographic studies soon with particolar attention to political and anthropology issues. He attends several workshops with authoritative photojournalists, meeting frequently many educational initiatives in his country Paolo currently lives in Italy in the city of Rome and works as a freelance personal projects. In the last years he told stories far from home, creating reports in Brazil, Cuba, Europe, India, USA, Haiti, central Africa, central America realizing personal projects or collaborating with humanitarian organizations, but its long-term project, (main ongoing project), realizing it at home, in his country for three years now: The extreme right in Italy.
