Contemporary Fresco's

I have worked at this project from 2012 till now. My fresco's tell a story, not a story of a single person, but a story of our world. Our old world and our new world, blended together. It was a lot of work to create them, but only with love for our world, fresco's, photography and photoshop I was able to re-create the glory of old fresco's again...

Mariska Karto is an artist based in The Netherlands. I was born in Suriname – South America. Originally Surinamese, Indonesian, African and a little Dutch. I grew up in the Netherlands. In my hyper photo collage works, time fades, creating a strange dimension. A dimension in which time no longer plays a role. The old and new world blended together. I re-create the fresco and landscapes into a new contemporary form through photography and my digital skills. I merge figures and stories into my carefully constructed hyper photo collages. Societies and time-journeys are visualized.
