Entry Description:

Most of the 1.5 million residents of Kathmandu Valley - which includes the three major urban centers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur - receive piped water for only two hours every other day. Others get nothing. People have to rely on either expensive water, which is brought in by tankers or is bottled, or unsafe water from shallow wells. Although a country such as Nepal is famous for its natural beauty and water resources since it located within the region of Himalayan. One might thought water supply will surely not be a problem and in fact cannot wait to get a taste of the natural mineral water. Despite Nepal's abundant water resources, its people suffer from water scarcity because of a lack of investment in water supply services and poor management of existing services.

About the Artist:

Alex Wong was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After he graduated from Savannah College of Arts and Design (MFA), GA - USA. Upon his graduation, he then worked at 3DO game and Electronic Arts game, USA as 3D animator. He has taught at the Sabanci University, Istanbul - Turkey since 2002 till now, in the area of Video, Motion graphics, Digital modeling and Computer Animation. He is being accepted as Bournemouth University National Centre of Computer Animation, UK as computer animation and graphic research member. On top of that, he has been active in photography for the past 14 years. Alex received International Photography Award (IPA), CA, USA in year 2005 - 1st and 3rd place in Nature category, 2006 - 2nd Place in Nature category and 2007 - 1st place in architecture-interior category. Alex has published a photographic and design book entitled Landographix. He is a regular editor/photographer to Photo creator publication and guest speaker to Malaysia National Art Gallery for photography seminar since 2004.
