About the Artist:

Bio Petra Barth was born in Germany and in the early career studied Design in Milan, working for several years in the fashion industry. In 1999, she became a full time freelance photographer working primarily in Latin America and Asia. Petra's work has been exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions covering Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. She studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Petra worked in China, Myanmar, India, Cambodia, Ukraine, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Haiti, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the United States. She serves as a foreign photo correspondent for Bolivia's Los Tiempos newspaper. Exhibitions: al margen, in Durham NC, Duke University Special Collection Gallery, Friedle Gallery, Latin America and the Caribbean, 2011, and exhibited in Washington DC, Organization of the American States (OAS), November 2010 through January 2011. Exhibit is the culmination of 7 years of work in 14 countries in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean and consists of 70 gelatin silver prints.
