Entry Description:

There are estimated 20.000 Homeless People in Japan. Most of them are living in two of the biggest Cities in Japan: more than 8000 People in Osaka and nearly 6000 People are dwelling in the metropolis of Tokyo. They live in tents or in selfmade cardboards inside public parks, underground stations or at the riverside. Mainly I had photographed in the Shinjuku Park and the Sumida-riverside. The groups in the Shinjuku-Park, behind the governmental building of Tokyo, organized themselves in order to succesfully resist an eviction from Shinjuku after a fire in the Shinjuku underground station in February 1998.
