LEVELS OF EXPERTISE
Q: Who is considered a professional photographer?

A: Px3 considers "professional photographers" those who earn, or have earned, the majority of their incomes from taking photographs, publish or sell their images regularly, and belong to professional photography organizations.

Q: I earned money from my photography. Can I still enter as a non-professional or student?
A: Px3 defines "professional" as having earned the majority of your income from photography. If photography is not your primary source of income, you may be considered "non-professional."

Q: I was a student when I took this photograph, but I'm now a professional. Can I still enter as a student?
A: If you are currently making your living as a photographer, we require that you enter all work in the Professional category.

Q: How old do I have to be to enter?
A: The competition is open to photographers of all ages, but individuals under the age of 18 must first obtain the permission of their parent or legal guardian before submitting work. If you are under the age of 18, you are automatically eligible to submit your work in the Student category.

DATES AND DEADLINES
Q: Why Px3 has a few deadlines?
A: In an effort to encourage the photographers to enter their work on time, Px3 has several deadlines. early bird deadline with 20% off of entry fees, standard deadline and final deadline.

Q: I took this photograph 3 years ago, is it too late to submit it to the competition?
A: Yes; in order to encourage the submission of new work, we require that images be no older than 5 years old at the time of the competition's open.

Q: When are winners announced?
A: Winners are announced four to six weeks after the close of the competition, and will be notified via email.

IMAGE SUBMISSION AND USAGE
Q: How do I submit my work to the competition?
A: Though we prefer the online submission process, we also accept mail-in entries. To learn more, please login.

Q: How do I pay for the photographs I submit?
A: We accept credit card or PayPal only.

Q: This image or series won an award in an earlier Px3 competition, can I still submit it?
A: No, entries that have won previous Px3 awards are not eligible for competition in ensuing years.

Q: My image or series won an award in another competition, can I still submit it?
A: Yes, you may enter work that has won awards in other competitions.

Q: What is considered a series?
A: Two to five (2 - 5) images that share the same theme or concept of the same title. While the overall quality of the images is taken into consideration, entries submitted as a series will be evaluated as a whole.

Q: Can I enter digital photographs into the competition?
A: Yes, you may ONLY submit digital files, via our online submission system.

Q: What size should the digital files be?
A: Digital submissions must be saved as .jpg files, with an RGB color profile, at 72dpi. The image should not exceed 1000 pixels on the longest side.

Q: My image didn't upload correctly. What should I do?
A: Most commonly, errors occur when the images are not saved in a .jpg format, at 72dpi, RGB color profile. Images that are too large (over 1000 pixels on the longest side) tend to be rejected by our server, as well. Please take a look at your file to make sure they conform to our requirements.

Q: Can I enter an image or series into more than one category?
A: Yes, you may enter your image or series into as many categories as you see fit.

Q: What is the Px3 copyright policy and how can Px3 use my photographs?
A: The organization has the right to use your submitted photographs for the annual exhibition(s) if you are a winner. Px3 may also use your work for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to Px3, with appropriate citation and credit.

Q: What happens to the print of my selected image for the Px3 Winners' Exhibition after the show?
A: The prints are not archival prints and are stamped with "NOT FOR SALE Property of Px3 (c) Photographer" in verso. some prints will be archived for the anniversary exhibitions and traveling exhibitions and the rest are destroyed.

Q: What are the 'Book' and 'Book Proposals' categories?
A: The Book category is for books that have been published. If you have a book that is ready for publication, but is without a publisher, please enter the Book Proposals category.

OTHER QUESTIONS
Q: I submitted my work, but I don't know if you received it. What can I do?
A: By logging into the Member Section and clicking on "Entry History," you will be able to view all entries, verify that images uploaded correctly, print receipts for paid entries, and pay all unpaid entries.

Q: I've paid for my entry, but I no longer want it to be considered. Can I be refunded?
A: No, once an entry has been paid for, it cannot be altered. If, for some reason, you do not want your entry to be considered by the jury, please let us know, and we will remove it; however, we cannot refund you. If you have been wrongly charged, we will be happy to credit the amount.

Q: How much does it cost to enter?
A: Entry fees vary, depending upon your level of expertise (Professional, Non-Professional, Student), the number of images you submit, and the number of categories. A 2012 fee schedule will be available at the open of the 2012 competition cycle.

Q: My entry was designated as an Official Selection. What does that mean?
A: If your entry has been made an Official Selection, it means that it has made it through to the final round of jurying. During the final round of jurying, jurors can assign bronze, silver, and gold medals, as well as Honorable Mentions. Being designated an Official Selection does not guarantee you an award in the Px3 competition, but it does mean that it is eligible.

Neither Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Awards, Inc., nor its associates, affiliates, or partners assumes any responsibility for photos submitted in violation of competition rules or for those which violate copyright regulations.  Px3 will investigate claims of copyright infringement to the best of its ability, and will remove and disqualify images that are clearly demonstrated to violate copyright and/or competition policies.  Px3 will act to maintain the integrity of the competition and its affiliated entities, but is not responsible for any damages resulting from images submitted in violation with rules and regulations.
